Emmett says lots of words now, picking up new ones every day. Unless I am there when he picks up a new one, I often am clueless about what he is talking about which is frustrating for both of us. He often expresses his frustration by banging his head on things (not very cute). I try not to bang my head on things. He is starting to give hugs without prompting. He has been cutting teeth like crazy. He folds his hands and closes his eyes when we pray. He still loves most all fruit, yogurt, raisins, milk, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, tomato sauce, cottage cheese, crackers, cookies, french fries, minestrone soup, toast, pizza, etc.
Sometimes he loves bean and cheese quesadillas, chicken nuggets, peas, cooked carrots, kidney beans, corn, bread, muffins and a load of other stuff. But sometimes those things are hot (the excuse he uses for not even wanting to try a bite of something).
He has been transitioning into the toddler room at daycare which was fun until last week when he was officially graduated. It has been very traumatic to be dropped off in that room, mostly just because we pass the baby room on the way and that has been his drop off place for more than a year. Everything in the toddler room is more independent, the hardest part for me being meal times. In the baby room he sat in a high chair and they had plenty of help to feed the little ones. The toddlers eat at a table in the lunch room and are doing most of the feeding on their own (with plenty of supervision of course). I am adjusting what he takes for lunches and working hard on spoon and fork skills with him.
Emmett loves to be outside, even when it's cold. He loves music. He knows that after we take a picture he can view it and usually wants to see the pictures immediately. Like most toddlers he has boundless energy. He naps one time a day, usually mid to late morning, although we are just now having some success pushing it a bit later in the day. He goes to bed about 7:30 most nights and usually wakes up around 7:30 in the morning. On the weekends we often leave him in his crib until 8 if he is content...he doesn't know how to climb out yet. I sure hope he never learns how to climb out! Overall, his biased parents think he is the cutest, smartest and most fun little boy around!
