Grandpa and Grandma S Visit

We just had Grandma and Grandpa S out for a visit and had loads of fun.  We had some decent weather and got to play outside some.  Luckily we got lots of pictures from Jim's mom's camera because we hardly took ours out the whole time.
Grandma came prepared with some "science experiments"
Here is a homemade lava lamp.
One of the boys favorite activities is building forts and a trampoline.  Our couch is taking lots of abuse.  The big bandage on Ezra's face was from daycare.  He got scratched pretty hard on the face and neck by a "friend."  This is the age where the kids really abuse eachother, I remember Emmett getting bitten a lot at this age.
Ezra loves playing with balloons and he sure liked it when Grandpa played with him.
The boys play more and more together each day it seems.
Ezra liks to play the drums and wanted to show Grandma and Grandpa.
Group picture, they loved all the extra attention.
On Saturday Jim had a bike race.  He and his parents had come down on Thursday to pre-ride the course.  Saturday was a pretty nice day but the wind was cold.  We watched various groups go by for multiple laps, it was hard to say how Jim was doing because the different catagories get a little intermixed.
We went to the finish line for the final lap.  Because of the groups being intermixed we didn't realize that Jim was out in front.  Unfortunately he thought he had more of a lead and 2 guys pushed hard at the end.  One of them supposedly inched by Jim right at the finish, so he ended up with a second place finish.  It was a great finish, but disappointing for him since he could have pushed harder right at the end.

On Sunday we did Ezra's baby dedication at church.  It is more of a parent dedication, us promising to raise Ezra in the ways of the Lord and asking the rest of the church for help and accountability.  We wanted to have some family with us, so it was nice to do it with Jim's parents visiting.
Any excuse for "fireman Emmett" to use the hose!
Ezra is such a goofball, he likes to make people laugh.  Things that are funny to him are: putting things on his head (hats, cups, crackers), throwing things (especially things that shouldn't be thrown), splashing in the bath, peek-a-boo, and anything that he can build anticipation for.

It looks like Ezra is disciplining the cat here.  I'm surprised that these two don't have more confrontations.
One night while I was making dinner the rest of the gang headed to the park.  Ezra got to swing and Emmett rode his "pedal bike" on the path.

 Another science experiment, so pretty!

On Monday Emmett spent the day with Grandma and Grandpa.  Ezra went to daycare because he is a little high maintenance.  Jim came home early and they went on a hike.  Emmett got a ride part of the way, little does he know he will have to fight his brother for this position this summer.
We had so much fun having Grandparents here.  Fortunately we have a trip at the end of May to Oregon.  This made it much easier for Emmett when it came time to say goodbye.  May should be a really fun month for us!
