GOOD Friday and Easter Weekend

Easter weekend was wonderful here.  It started out with a great Good Friday.  Jim had the day off and after we had breakfast we were telling Emmett why the day was called Good Friday.  When we told him that Jesus had to die as a final sacrifice for our sin, he decided that he wanted to ask for forgiveness for his sin.  He said he knew that Jesus was God's son and that he wanted Him to be his King and Savior.  So Jim and I were able to lead him in a prayer for salvation.  It was very special for our family, and he had lots of excitement to tell people that he was in God's family.  We pray that his faith will grow and that he will learn to  love people like Jesus did and recognize sin.

Mid-morning we took both boys to their daycare Easter egg hunt.  We had tried a community egg hunt last year and it was a bit much (too many people and so much greed!) so we decided to try this instead.  It was great!  Tons of eggs with little trinkets and candy and the Easter bunny.  In the afternoon we had the car battery tested and it was 100%, so the car not starting the week before had been a total fluke, weird.  Also did some grocery shopping and shopping for some home improvement things.

Saturday was absolutely beautiful.  During the chilly morning time we went and did a little more home improvement shopping (home projects to come), saw emergency vehicles and cars at a car show and went to the library.  We dyed eggs, played outside, rode bikes and in the evening had some friends over for dinner and a game night.

On Easter we went to church and the boys wore their suspenders and bow ties from my sister's wedding.  This was Emmett's idea and he was bound and determined to fit into his "wedding clothes."  They are getting quite small, but still looked cute.  We ate lunch outside and enjoyed the sunshine.  While the boys were resting I filled and hid plastic eggs.  I like to assign them colors and make Emmett's harder than Ezra's.  It was a challenging hunt for Emmett, but he loved it...Ezra lost interest pretty quickly and just wanted to open eggs.  We tortured the kids by having ham (our picky eaters don't really love meat), but the grownups gave dinner 2 thumbs up.
We have continued to torture the boys with lots of egg dishes this week.  At least the weather has been nice and they got popsicles.
