Fourth of July

Summer has gotten hot here and we enjoyed a trip to a nearby water park that we hadn't been to before.  I took the boys down on Tuesday.  Normally a group of us get together on Tuesday for play dates, but this outing proved to be a bit much for families that have nappers, potty trainers and young toddlers.  We decided to go by ourselves and had a great time.  There was this fun play structure, a lazy river, and two other pools.  There was also a big water slide.  Afterwards we stopped at Costco and then headed home.

Friday we started our Fourth of July celebration by riding bikes to the parade route and watching a VERY long parade.  There were over 120 entries, including marching bands, cheerleaders, dancers, princesses, politicians, and floats from lots of local businesses.  It was hot in the sun, but we found shade when we needed it and enjoyed watching.

We spent the hottest hours of the day at home relaxing and then went to a fireworks tailgate party.  We had a good spread of snacks and firework variety.  When the big show started (slated as the biggest west of the Mississippi) we watched that.  The kids had a great time and had both taken a nap that day making staying up late fairly easy on their little bodies.

Saturday was mostly spent around the house and running errands, but we did take a quick trip to the zoo in the evening on Ezra's request.  We were surprised by how active the animals were on such a hot day.

sounds like your parade beats the one in Corvallis, hands down:) Ryan's staff saw that the parade was at 9:30 and assumed that was at night, before the fire works. Fortunately I called to find out what they were doing and let her know it's a morning parade. We loved having you there with us last year!
