Family Visit

Jim's work had "Family Day" where family members get the rare opportunity to go "out to the site" and see where Jim spends his time and learn a little about what they do there.  He was able to take up to 9 people with him and we were fortunate to have his parents and his sister's family all come from Oregon to attend.

Jim's parent's arrived on Wednesday night.  Thursday we went to the zoo and Reed's dairy.
Friday we attempted to find some huckleberries to pick and were quite unsuccessful.  We hiked around a bit and saw Fall Creek Falls.  Friday night Jim's sister and her family arrived.

Saturday I took Elliott to spend the day with his friend McKell.  He had lots of fun there and would not have been very happy out at Jim's work.  The rest of us caravanned in 2 vehicles out to the site.  It is around an hour out to where Jim works.  We got to see some old submarine prototypes, and lots of the processes that they do out there.  It was interesting.  Most people said their favorite part was seeing Jim's office and the Emergency Control Center.  The office building that he is in is only a few years old and a big improvement from his previous offices.  We weren't allowed to take any pictures (or have any electronic devices at all) so there isn't much to show for our time there. After seeing Jim's work I went to get Elliott and the rest of the group stopped at Reed's dairy for ice cream.

On Sunday we went to church and then the zoo.  We did a picnic lunch and then floated boats down a stream and walked on the greenbelt some.

Monday morning all of our guests left.  Some of them were headed home, but Beth, Winn and Audrey were headed up to see Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks and then came back to stay with us 2 more nights.  Emmett and Ezra spent Wednesday with them while I worked.  They love their cousins!

We watched the olympics as much as we could and really enjoyed the daytime coverage when we could see some of the more unusual sports like trampoline and white water canoeing.  Emmett really liked the sand volleyball and we played as a family some with a makeshift rope as our net in the backyard with a beachball.
Sporting new olympic shirts that Grandma T sent.
