August 2020

We were busy squeezing the last bit of fun out of relaxing summer days this August.  We visited our favorite fishing pond, the Teton Dam collapse site, Rexburg Rapids Waterpark, Rigby Lake, Blacktail Reservoir, Gravity Factory (trampoline park), and Porter Park to name a few.

The biggest yellow perch yet!

This looks like a terrible picture of Ezra, but it was capturing
the snake coming out of the water towards his feet!

Flowers courtesy of seeds sent to us by Rick and Rosie.  When we visited them last summer I thought it was a pretty plant and she remembered and sent me seeds this spring!

Good Friends!

"drive-in" movie at our friends' garage

We got to see Audrey while she was in state for a basketball tournament!

Willow Creek
Soccer started up and all three boys are playing again.  Elliott is on a U8 team and has 2-3 practices a week and games on Saturday mornings.  Ezra is on a U10 team and also has 2-3 practices a week with games on Wednesday nights.  Ezra and Elliott are getting some fun coaching from a couple coaches from the UK that are doing 1-2 special practices a week.  Emmett is on his middle school team because of having a Fall birthday.  There wasn't enough boys to make 2 teams, so they have 18 players and are in a U15 league.  Luckily Emmett doesn't look tiny out there, but there are some very big boys and he looks quite small next to some of them!  He has 2 practices a week and 1-2 games a week.

School was a little up in the air whether it would be online, in-person, or hybrid.  Online school was offered as an option to those who preferred, but my kids wanted to be in the classroom if possible.  Last minute decisions were made by the district and we started school a few days later than planned, but we started mostly in-person!  The kids are currently attending Monday-Thursday with online work at home on Friday.  We got to drop off our supplies and meet our teachers a week before we started.  The kids are wearing masks on the bus, in the classroom, and on the playground.  Basically from the time they leave home until they get home (with a small break to eat lunch).

Emmett is in 6th grade with his homeroom teacher Mrs. Couch (she will teach social studies, math, and science).  He also has Mrs. Bridges for writing and Mrs. Miller for reading.  He has had a great start to school.  Our elementary school goes through 6th grade so he is at the top this year!
Ezra is in 4th grade with Mrs. Foster.  He had an assignment before school started and his teacher has great online resources available for them already.
Elliott is in morning kindergarten with Mrs. Lemons.  He gets to ride the bus in the morning with his brothers and he rides a special kindergarten bus home when I'm off of work and takes the van to daycare when I'm working.  He is learning how to log in to his computer account and working on his letter sounds and writing.

They don't seem to mind wearing their masks very much.  I got lanyards for them which has been especially helpful for Emmett and Ezra at lunch time to keep track of their mask when they take it off.

Love the drive in movie in friends garage! Fun! Also neat that Rosie sent flower seeds. Turned out great!
