Table Rock Hike

Jim and Emmett hiked Table Rock on Labor Day.  It is a great hike that is somewhat grueling but worth it with amazing views of the Tetons.  With Emmett nearing thirteen and in good shape from soccer we thought it was time for him to experience it.  Jim was monitoring the air quality to try to avoid doing the hike on a smoky day.  They were somewhat successful, it was smokier than they would have liked, but at least it didn't completely spoil the view.  They left home at 5:30am and started hiking about 7:30.  They made it to the top just before 11am.  There are two ways to go, the face which is 4 miles and very steep and "huckleberry" which is 7 miles but much less steep.  They hiked up the face and down huckleberry.  Usually when we hike as a family there is lots of complaining and squabbling, but Jim said Emmett didn't complain at all.  They even saw one of his soccer coaches and teammate up there.  I think it was a pretty great experience that showed Emmett how much he is capable of, and hopefully he will want to hike more in the future.
