Family UK Trip 2022 - Day 3

Sunday was our day to tour Old Trafford, the Manchester United Stadium.  It was also a day called "Derby Day" where Man City and Man U play each other.  The game was taking place at the Etihad Sunday afternoon.  We weren't quite sure what to expect, we had heard that it can be a pretty crazy day with the strong rivalries.  Elliott has been saying that Manchester United is his favorite team, we're not sure if that is just because Emmett likes Manchester City, because he likes Ronaldo, or what his reason is.  So he was especially excited about this tour.  Old Trafford is the largest club soccer stadium in the UK and has quite a history.  We rode the tram to get there and started in the museum which was quite a bit larger than the Manchester City museum.

Our tour group was larger and the guide wasn't quite as fun as our guide on the Etihad stadium tour.  Other than that it was fairly similar. We got lots of history lessons, saw the dressing room, saw the tunnel where the players enter and spent time seeing the stands and where different important people sit.

We did some shopping at the end and then went to Red's Cafe to get some lunch.

After lunch we headed back to our hotel.  Our hope was to find a place to watch the Manchester City vs. Manchester United game, but we didn't have any luck.  We even went to the National Football Museum because we heard that they sometimes broadcast it, but they weren't.  So we did some of the activities at the museum and spent some time there (our pass was good for a whole year).
An "ambulance" at the train station

We spent a little more down time at our hotel and then got dinner at Archie's, which was like an American 50's diner.  We had hamburgers and then got milkshakes and a dessert waffle.

It was our last night in Manchester, so we spent the rest of the evening packing and planning for the next part of our trip.
