Train Show!!!

Today Emmett attended his first train show. After church we said goodbye to Grandma and Grandpa and then headed downtown to our annual train show and swap meet.

We didn't have very high expectations, knowing it would mostly be vendors, but we were pleasantly surprised! The models that they had set up were quite amazing.

Although the trains are interesting and quite realistic (even puffing real smoke) the best part for me is the other parts of the models. There are cities, airports, oil fields, basketball games, farms, carnivals, etc. It is all so intricate. There was a really neat set-up made entirely of legos. It even had the Statue of Liberty. And if you've never seen someone riding an ostrich....well they had that too.

Obviously Emmett's favorite display had Thomas and his friends. I told Emmett that I didn't think Thomas the Train would be at the train show, but I was wrong. The Thomas trains had little eyes that move when they go and Harold the Helicopter was flying over and even Sir Topham Hatt was there directing traffic.

To top off the day Emmett got to ride a 1/4 scale train. He rode all by himself (with the train engineer) and did great. He was quite serious the whole time, didn't even give us a smile or a wave.

They did four laps around the track, and although he didn't smile the entire time, you should hear him talk about it now!

We missed the train show last year. Thanks for reminding me to look into when it is this year :) Isn't it funny how all boys LOVE trains?
