Jim's parents came to visit us in the middle of September. We had a spell of bad weather during their trip which was unfortunate! It was still a great time, it's always a treat to have visitors. They got to visit our zoo, a wildlife management area and we also went to the Museum of Idaho to see the space exhibit. We walked around the river area and saw the improvements made to the Japanese garden.

Emmett's birthday fell on a Saturday. He got cinnamon rolls for breakfast and then opened his presents. Jim set up another fun scavenger hunt, a little harder this time. Then our soccer loving kid got to play a soccer game. He went straight from his game to a friend's birthday party. We went out to dinner at the Pizza Pie Cafe, which is a pizza, pasta and salad buffet and of course they have a dessert buffet as well. So we didn't even get to the cake that he had requested. He wanted an ice cream cake that wasn't chocolate and I was able to order a strawberry cheesecake ice cream cake with a picture of a soccer ball. We may STILL have some in our freezer.

The next weekend I went to a Fetal Ultrasound Conference in Park City, UT with 2 of my friends/co-workers. We had a FABULOUS time learning and playing together. We went down super early to have time to shop at an outlet mall, learned great things that we can put into practice, met up with another sonographer friend to shop in Old Town and do dinner all on the first day. We stayed at the hotel where the conference was and enjoyed all the good food that they fed us. When the conference was done we went and got massages and dinner and drove back to Idaho.

While I was gone Jim was a super awesome Dad with the boys. While Emmett and Ezra were in school he took Elliott to the zoo and they got to see the twin lion cubs out and about. Our lions had 3 cubs this year, which I didn't even know was possible. The mom hadn't had cubs before and the first cub, born in the Spring, had some medical problems and was taken away from her to be hand raised. She got pregnant with twins soon afterwards, and now all the lions are together and doing well.

Wow, a couple of days away-and massages! Sounds great. Also the visit and celebration of Emmett's birthday.
