Oregon Coast in December

The day after Christmas we went to the coast with Jim's parents and his sister and her kids.  We all shared a house and enjoyed unseasonably nice weather!  We had a view of the ocean from the house and it was just a short walk to the beach.  One morning there was a bald eagle on a tree just up the road from the house.  We got to spend lots of time walking on the beach, exploring tidepools, got Emmett new shoes at the Nike outlet (mens size 8.5, whoa!) and enjoyed playing games, doing puzzles, and watching sports on TV.  We also celebrated Jim's mom's birthday and gave Audrey her birthday gift a few days early.

We checked out of the house and drove South down the coast.  The high tide was making some impressive seas.  We ended up getting seafood at the bayfront in Newport at a favorite seafood place (Emmett had subway) and impressively Ezra ate his whole crab cake and Elliott ate all his fish.  It was yummy and we ate on the benches overlooking the harbor, enjoying the still, sunny weather.  We walked around the bayfront to see the sights and sea lions and then drove back North up highway 101 to enjoy as much coastal sunshine as possible.

Elliott got a "smart watch" that could take pictures, so he stopped a lot taking pictures.

We headed back to the valley as the sun was setting and stopped by my parents to drop something off and say goodbye.  Hopefully we will be safe to spend some better time with them soon!  We spent the next day consolidating and packing up and enjoying another relaxing day.  Our trip home was much colder, snowier, and windy and we were thankful to have our winter tires and great Subaru traction control to get us home safely.
