June 2022

Soccer wrapped up in June.  Elliott got to have a fun end of year party at a swimming pool.  Ezra's team went out for ice cream at Reed's Dairy.  Emmett's team played in one last tournament up in Rexburg and he reffed a few games there as well.  His team made it to the final game and lost, which was disappointing.  We got to go to the water park up there and out to pizza afterwards.  Emmett also had soccer tryouts and made the top team again.  This summer he has not had many opportunities to play as 3/4 of his team is on to high school and busy with their high school teams getting ready for fall.  It will be interesting to see what his fall season looks like without the high school players.  He is reffing for an adult league during the summer some.  He has been making between $15-35 per game depending on age and whether he is the center ref or AR (sideline ref).

Jim took the boys to a Chukars baseball game sponsored by his work.  I stayed home with the dog.  Elliott had the mascot sign his shoe.

Emmett got his braces on the second week of June.  He is wearing head gear at night to help hold back the upper part of his mouth and giving his lower jaw maximum growth potential.  He had an uncomfortable couple days adjusting, especially since he couldn't eat as fast as he likes... he thought he was going to starve.

While going through clothes and cleaning out closets Elliott came across this suit and decided to dress up just for fun.

Elliott is paying T ball this summer.  He was invited by a girl from his class (and I know her mom from PTO).  He didn't have a lot of interest, but he is actually loving it.  He is one of the biggest kids out there, he must have just barely  made the age cut off.  His coaches are really good and I think he may need to try the next step up from T ball next summer.  Unfortunately, all the games are on Mondays and Wednesdays during the day when I'm at work.  Jim has been able to take him on Mondays and Emmett and Elliott have been going to the Wednesday games with one of Elliott teammates.  I got to watch part of one of the games on a lunch break and should be able to see one or 2 more.

For Father's Day this year we made Jim a cake...only it was meatloaf and frosted with mashed potatoes colored pink with beet juice.  We got the idea from one of Ezra's yummy crates, a cooking subscription box that he got for Christmas.

After Everest's third set of shots we started to get him out more.  We started taking him on walks and going places to to hike and play in water.  We decided to get him a life jacket since we wanted to take him out in our kayaks.  We've had a kayak out in the living room for him to get used to also.

We went to a place called Wolverine Canyon and hiked up to a cave and then played in a small creek.  We also took hammocks and books to relax there for a while.

All worn out after a day of adventuring
We are trying to give the dog lots of experiences and Jim took him through a car wash.

Everest keeps growing and has responded pretty well to obedience training with treats.  Our first couple nights with him were rough (he's sleeping in a crate on the first floor while all our bedrooms are on the 2nd floor).  After a few nights of letting him out every hour or 2 he started going much longer.  But we've had some hiccups along the way and definitely are reminded of our days of not getting much sleep with babies in the house.

Elliott really wanted Jim to get a fishing license for Father's Day since his had expired.  So they have been doing a little bit of fishing when they can.
Elliott accidentally gave himself a black eye.  He threw the baseball up in the air and tried to catch it about his face, but the ball hit him in the eye.
At the end of June we applied for passports.  I had been wanting to do this so we are ready to travel when the opportunity presents itself and I had started looking into it in January.  I'm the only one who has had a passport and I wanted to locate it to start the process.  I looked EVERYWHERE for it and can even picture the little bag that it is in.  It is utterly lost and I kind of gave up on passports in my disappointment.  A co-worker told me it was easy to report as lost, and since it was so old they actually pretty much didn't even care that it was lost.  So when a travel opportunity for Jim opened up at work we decided to all get passports.  It is supposed to take 8-11 weeks, so hopefully we can do some travelling soon ;-)

Ezra and Elliott got haircuts.  Ezra was long overdue.  His hair actually grows out pretty nicely, but he just looked hot with how long it was getting.  I always forget to take a before and after, but this time I remembered!
