On Our Way

I decided to devote a blog post to our drive to Oregon.  We left at 5am and drove a little over 2 hours to our first stop for breakfast and gas.  The McDonalds we stopped at just got re-done and had a brand new play land so the kids got to play after getting dressed, while Jim got gas.  We only stopped for about 20 minutes and got back in the car to eat.  I'm so glad to realize how much my kids love the yogurt parfaits and oatmeal at McDonalds!  Then we drove all the way to LaGrande for lunch, almost 5 hours.  The kids watched a movie and Ezra took a nap.  We almost always stop at the McDonalds in LaGrande for their play area.  That was a little longer stop for eating and playing and gas.  Our last stop was at the Bonneville Dam fish hatchery, about 3 more hours down the road.  It was windy and cold, but we had fun and the grounds there are really beautiful.  There are some huge sturgeon to see and lots of trout.  Back on the road we had about 3 more hours including getting through traffic in Portland.  We arrived at Jim's parent's home almost exactly 14 hours after we left home, just in time for dinner!  And since I probably won't post about the trip home (it was non-eventful and took 13 hours), I just have to say that it was the first trip that we didn't sit in the back with the boys at all.  They are getting so grown up and they are great travelers!  Here are some pictures from the fish hatchery.
