Get Ready for Baby

We're planning to induce baby E3 in a few more days and have been experiencing many "lasts" as a family of 4.  Life hasn't been too busy and we've had time to get a bit more ready to become a family of 5.  I got to have a fun baby shower that was a little different.  A friend offered to host a baby shower and because I don't really need very many things I suggested that we shower a home for young expectant moms with gifts instead of me.  So I got a really fun get together with friends and good food and we donated all the gifts to a place that needed them much more than me.

We got some new office furniture and Jim re-arranged it many times until we were both happy with it.  We still have lots to do to get all our office stuff organized, mainly purging because we save way too much stuff.  It is a really nice space, and we'll get a picture of it on here soon.

We also got bunk beds for the "big boys."  We looked at lots of different types and found something that seems good quality and well priced at Costco.  Jim assembled them and dis-assembled Emmett's bed.  I had moved most all of Ezra's stuff into Emmett's room over the last couple months.  Tonight is only the third night in the same room and it seems to be going very smooth.  With all our furniture boxes Jim made a "play castle" in there too.  Another thing we need to get a picture of.

The baby's room is coming together nicely.  Jim got the toddler bed turned back into a crib and I have washed and put away all the baby things in the room, the clothes are all ready up through the 6 month size.  Ezra looked in there this morning and said the baby's room was "cute."  We also set up a bassinet in our room.  I've gone through lots of old things (even pulled out old yearbooks to show the boys) and gotten rid of a few things and re-organized other things.

We've made time to do some other fun things too.  This past Friday we went to our minor league baseball team's game.  It was a special sponsored night for Jim's work so we had dinner there and the kids got to play in a bounce house.  One of the players gave Emmett a fowl ball that stayed on the field and another kid gave Ezra an official ball on our way out.  Emmett got his signed by the team mascot.  On Sunday we went to the fair.  Jim entered 10 photographs to be judged and got a couple honorable mentions.  We looked through all the arts and crafts, watched part of a "Lady Houdini" show, looked in RVs, saw the animals, ate fair food, etc.  We skipped the rides. Both boys fell asleep on the way home (we left around 6pm) and Emmett was out for the night.

Today Jim and I got a babysitter and went on a lunch date.  We went to a couple stores, had to settle on a third choice restaurant since others were closed for Labor Day (still excellent), and stopped by a shop for chocolates for dessert.  We had intended to do a dinner date, but our babysitters start school tomorrow and that seemed a little stressful for them.  This turned out really fun and the boys had a great time playing.  They were kind of upset when we got home.  Then I took the boys to the Planes: Fire and Rescue movie and met some friends at the theater.  It was a very nice holiday.

Emmett was supposed to start school tomorrow but it has been delayed until next week.  His school was one of the oldest in the district and they have built a new school on site and demolished the old school  The new school is ready, but the parking lots, driveways, etc weren't quite ready.  His first day will be Sept 9th.  This week is the first week of pre-school and Ezra will go to that Wednesday and Thursday this week.  Emmett also started soccer last week.  I only have one day of work this week and then my work will be figuring out what to do with a new baby and two older boys.  Jim is taking plenty of time off work to help with that transition, and I'm looking forward to figuring this new stage out with him.
