one year stats

Emmett is still a healthy little guy. Today he got 4 shots and he got his hemoglobin tested...lots of pokes! He barely noticed the finger prick, but the shots were no fun. He is now 29" tall (25th percentile), 18lb 3.5 oz (2nd percentile) and his head is 46 1/4 cm (50th percentile). Still pretty small for his age, but he is following the growth chart properly so the doctor wasn't concerned. He gets to try whole milk and most food restrictions are lifted

After the doctor and a 2.5 hour nap (gasp!) we met Elizabeth and her son Gideon at the park. It seems that only one park in town has baby swings, which is just crazy. I haven't scouted every single park, but quite a few. We are starting to not be surprised by things like this. Emmett has been here quite a few times this summer, but it was Gideon's first time.

Swinging was a big hit, both together (back to back) and separate. The slides were also fun, Emmett has figured out that with bare feet he can stick pretty well and climb up slides. Apparently the wood chips were quite tasty as well.

After the park Gideon and Liz came over to play. The reality of Emmett's recent shots sank in and he got pretty sad. Some tylenol and a bottle got him feeling a little better. He decided that one long nap was enough for today (hopefully we aren't transitioning to one nap already). In the evening we went to our Kindermusik class. It is called Sign and Sing, and puts an emphasis on learning some sign language through singing. Pretty fun stuff. It is at a church very close to us, so we walked. Jim worked late tonight because of lots of impending deadlines. Tomorrow we both work and then we are going to a wedding. So Emmett's presents will have to wait until the weekend. It's a good thing he's oblivious, but this is probably the only year we will have it so easy! Present pictures to come this weekend...and I will post some videos of the swinging, hopefully they aren't too long.
